Why this matters

AI is reshaping how the world works. We believe the Church shouldn't just react to it — we should help shape it. This hackathon gathers builders, pastors and technologists to create tools that free up ministry leaders to do what matters most: loving God and loving people.

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord."
Colossians 3:23

The short version

Anyone 18 or older can enter, anywhere in the world where participation is legal. It's free and fully online. Build AI software that serves churches — a brand-new project is preferred, or a new tool or feature inside a project you already have — during the build window of October 30–November 27, 2026. Submit one project per team, in one track, with a description and a demo video of 5 minutes or less. Keep it your own work, honest, kind, and safe with people's data. Judges decide every prize except People's Choice and Hacker's Choice, and winners are announced December 1, 2026 at 12:00 PM ET.

Build Ideas

Start with a real ministry need. These are sparks, not assignments — make one your own, combine a few, or bring something entirely new.

Giving & stewardship

Giving impact storyteller

Turn aggregate giving totals and staff-approved ministry updates into clear, encouraging impact reports. AI drafts the story; a church leader approves every number and claim.

Start small

One monthly report showing a ministry goal, progress, and the real people or projects it supports.

Possible connection: Giving-platform API where available, or an anonymized sample export. Never send donor identities to AI.

Planning Center

Volunteer scheduling copilot

Help a ministry leader find scheduling gaps and suggest a balanced serving rotation using availability, existing assignments, and team roles. People approve changes before invitations go out.

Start small

A read-only view of one service team's gaps with three suggested replacements for each open role.

Possible connection: Planning Center Services API with the church's authorized access.

Bible & discipleship

Scripture habit companion

Build a Bible-reading site around a real daily habit: a short passage, a journal prompt, and an optional reminder. AI can suggest reflection questions, while the Scripture text comes from a licensed Bible source.

Start small

A seven-day reading journey with passage links, a private journal, and church-reviewed questions.

Possible connection: YouVersion Bible API, subject to access approval and Bible translation permissions.
